The Lion necklace is a polished hematite pendant of a male lion on a base of wire threaded with 4mm cylindrical hematite beads. The pendant is highlighted by hematite polyhedra. The back of the pendant is smooth and polished.

The pendant is 25mm high, 55mm wide. The necklace weighs 56gms, is 40cm long and has a screw barrel clasp.

Hematite (also spelled haematite) is a semi-precious mineral and one of the main sources of metallic iron. It is heavy, harder than pure iron but brittle. It has been used for jewellery for thousands of years as it polishes beautifully. Depending on the source, hematite can be coloured black to pale grey.
